New wines from Le Temps des Cerises

Springtime and wines from Axel Prüfer seem to go hand in hand. Sitting in the park with friends, enjoying a bottle of his Cinsault truly feels like one of life’s simple pleasures, and so we couldn’t be happier to have a few new cuvées to release now on the cusp of warmer days.

Situated in the Languedoc just north of Beziers, Le Mas Blanc is the home to the Temps Des Cerises cellar, but it is high up in the surrounding hills, in some of the most beautiful but inhospitable areas of the region, where you will find Axel’s vineyards. A fastidious eye in the vines and a gentle touch in the cellar are elemental to the production of his bright and nuanced wines. It is those, as well as his kind and humble nature, that have earned him the respect of so many in the course of his 20 year career.

His 2020s are characteristically light on their feet, but perhaps due to the searing heat around harvest show a touch more generosity of fruit than previous years. As well as the new vintage of some familiar faces, Axel has revisited a wine he has only made once before - a wonderful sparkling version of La Peur Du Rouge - of which we received just a few cases.

These are without doubt some of our most popular wines and so we would urge anyone interested in stocking them to get in touch soon as they will not be around for long.
