Introducing Axel Prüfer & Pierre Bourlier

It feels almost inappropriate to announce new additions to the portfolio amidst most of our friends having to close their doors to protect the public and their staff, but here we are! We had a pallet arrive two weeks ago and although these wines will continue to improve, many are also perfect for the spring weather we are now enjoying.

Le Temps des Cerises, Languedoc

We’ve long dreamed of bringing the wines of Axel Prüfer to the UK so it’s a pleasure to have a small allocation from his 2018 production now arrive. They are, as ever, light and delicate wines from one of the most brutal regions in the south of France.

Incredibly delicious and thirst-quenching, magnums often seem the appropriate format.

Pierre Bourlier, Ardèche

We also introduce Pierre Bourlier who is a more recent discovery from northern Ardèche. Pierre is a young vigneron who farms a brace of Gamay and Pinot Noir parcels a stones-throw away from St. Joseph. 2018 was his 3rd vintage and although it was extremely hot and dry the wines are perfumed and well poised. Unfortunately, we were only able to get a handful of cases.

New Wines from Es d'Aqui, Limoux

Lastly, we have two new wines from Jean-Louis Pinto aka Es d’Aqui. The wonderful 'M&M' returns (2019 vintage) and is perhaps even better than last year with a little more structure, but the same soaring aromatics. We also have a new cuvée 'Danslezetoiles Blanc' from 2018 - a macerated Sauvignon Blanc which has brought out the more mineral and saline side of the grape.
